Image of a King

David's Anointing

David's Anointing

I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom… The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. Psalm 145:1-3,8

David becomes a picture, an image, of what a future King was going to be like. Just like David, this King would be born in Bethlehem. Just like David, this King would be from the tribe of Judah. Just like David , this King would ultimately be known as the "Anointed One"...which in Hebrew they called "Meschiach" or "Messiah."

Read

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7

Discussion:

What's the condition of your heart? Is it hard or soft, open or closed? Why is the condition of your heart so important in your daily walk as a follower of Christ? What do you believe God may have in store for you in 2019? Tim said that, "(We) who have been anointed by the very Spirit of God-should expect him to show up in radical ways. In light of that truth, how can we not dream?" Have you forgotten how to dream in your life. Do you believe it's too late in your life to dream? How are you to become the next chapter in this story of God's plan for the redemption of the world?

Being Missional

"This takes us back to the very beginning of the story. You and I were made in the image of God from the very beginning. Your very being ...who you are...is missional." What does it mean to live a missional life? Do you have thoughts on how you could be increasingly missional in your life?
