Rest In

Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?"

Jesus replied, "Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness." Then John consented.

As soon Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son; whom I love; with him, I am well pleased."

Matthew 3:13-17

No matter your age, the approval of your parents affects how you view yourself and your ability to pass that approval on to your children, spouse, and friends. This is vital to your self-esteem and emotional well-being.

Reflect

1. What jumped out at you from this weekend's message? 2. What comes to mind when you hear the word blessing? 3. How do you try and earn approval from God and others? 4. How does remembering God's love for you shape your behavior? 5. What steps can you take to bless your loved ones this week? 6. In what ways can you stop striving for and start living from God's blessing this week?

Do

THIS WEEK'S IN CHALLENGE: We get a blessing from our Heavenly Father, who calls us His son or daughter. This week, pass that on. Write a note of blessing to someone to affirm and encourage them. Remember the 3 step process: Identity, Love, & Affirm.
