Message: Ten Years From Now

Speaker: Greg Holder

Service Date: January 19, 2020 Plain Print Version

They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.   Acts 2:42-47

This is what happens when Jesus gets hold of a church.

DISCUSSION:

"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching"

How are you doing in reading God's Word, really taking in what it is saying, and letting it change you?

What do you need to change in order for this to happen in a more profound way?

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.  Psalm 34:8

Do you lean in with expectancy as you read His Word?

"to the breaking of bread"

You cannot do this alone.

How are you doing with community?

Are there people you share your hopes, dreams and struggles to?

"to prayer"

The more mature you become as a follower of Jesus, the more reliant you become on him.

Do you pray as if you are reliant on Jesus in every area of your life?

Do you pray for those in your life who do not know Christ?

What steps can you take to lean in more and grow in prayer?

"Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs"

Jesus is the way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, the light in the darkness.

How can we push against the darkness in our city, our country, our world?

Where do YOU need hope?

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."
Martin Luther King, Jr
