Message: Prepare the Way

Speaker: Greg Holder

Service Date: December 06, 2020 Plain Print Version

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. - Isaiah 9:2

Christmas is the claim that God has come NEAR. When we begin to embrace all that this means, it changes how we live. Now we know that we are loved by God chosen and chased down and rescued . . . This is how we survive and even prevail in the middle of a struggle . . . God says I’ve not just watched from afar, I’ve been through that storm, that struggle, I waged an epic battle for your sake and I will be with you through it. I’ve made a way through it. I will see you through it.

Read

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6

Reflect

What did you think about Greg's use of John the Baptist to help us in this Advent season? Are you feeling more fatigue and anxiety this Christmas than in past Christmas'? How are you at slowing down and making a way for God to reach you this Christmas? What do you think you'd like to do to make a difference in the life of another person this month? Reflect and talk about what the words Isaiah uses in Chapter 9:6 mean to you; Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Do

Look for opportunities to be kind, to make room for others, to slow down, to dial down the critiques of others and to pray bold prayers. Do them now; don't wait till later, because often later never comes.

This Week:

Read Isaiah 40 this week and reflect on the promises God has made to his people and the comfort he gives to each of us.
