Message: Fellowship - Part 1

Speaker: Greg Holder

Service Date: January 16, 2022 Plain Print Version

Welcome the group and open in prayer.

Pastor Greg's message was on "Fellowship."  Instead of spending time talking about the meaning of fellowship, take a few minutes to paint a visual word picture of fellowship. What does fellowship look like?

Have someone read aloud the Scriptures below and discuss:

  • Focus on the word fellowship as it's repeated several times in the 1 John passage. What does this communicate to you?
  • Acts 2:42- unpack each of the practices listed in this verse.
    • • It’s important to note that these practices formed the foundation for the growth and development of the early church. What importance do these practices play in the Christian community today?
    • What are ways you are putting these practices to work in your life?
  • Koinonia is the Greek word for “fellowship” It is more than church potlucks and social gatherings. What makes the New Testament vision of fellowship deeper and more unique?
    • Pastor Greg used the comparison of a sporting event- "I have more in common with someone cheering for the other team who loves Jesus than I do someone standing on my side of the stadium who doesn’t know him."
  • Read aloud Ephesians 4:29 and unpack the message in this verse.
    • Think of that time in your life when things changed because someone said the right words at the right time.
    • Take a few minutes to list some words and phrases that could be healing for someone to hear. (i.e. I'm sorry, I believe in you, Can I pray for you? You have made a difference)
  • Finally, wrap up the group by praying for each other-perhaps even sprinkling in some of the words and phrases that the group came up with.
