God Has A Plan

"God has a plan for your life."

"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

"Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God and there is no other; I am God and there is none like me. I made known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, 'My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.'" Isaiah 46:9-10

DISCUSSION:

How did you finish this sentence? If God has a plan for my life, then _____________________________________.

"God is sovereign AND you have a choice."

DISCUSSION: Share about a time in your life when you thought you understood the plan, but looking back you see that God was doing something different. What did God teach you through that?

"Your prayers matter."

DISCUSSION: Discuss the role of prayer in the life of a Believer and how that helps direct the plan God has for your life.

"God is not bound by time."

"A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night." Psalm 90:4

DISCUSSION: How does knowing that God is above and outside of time as we know it affect you on your own personal journey?

"The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law." Deuteronomy 29:29

We often focus on the wrong things and worry too much about things that have not been revealed to us. At the same time, we can not be concerned enough about what has been revealed.

DISCUSSION: What are some things in your life that you need to let go and stop worrying about? What are some things that God has revealed that you need to pay attention to? How does God reveal these things to you?

"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is not being done, the saving of many life." Genesis 50:20

DISCUSSION: Have there been time in your life that didn't make any sense to you, where you could not see God's plan at work in any way, but later saw how His plan was for good?

Reflect

This week take time to read the story of Joseph, Genesis 37-50. Reflect how the plan of God is woven throughout his story, even when it did not make sense to Joseph.
