Peter writes that we've been born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus (1 Peter 1:3). What is the nature of this hope? What is the resurrection? What happens when we die? What will heaven be like? Why does it matter?

In Surprised By Hope, N.T. Wright explores these questions and sheds biblical light on the misconceptions about life after death. The promise of resurrection invests eternal significance into the seemingly mundane events of this life, inviting Christ-followers to experience the surprising and transforming reality of Christian hope. For three nights, we'll unpack this important book, thinking through why it matters for us today. Special attention will be given to how the books of the Bible fit together, how to cling to Christian hope in the midst of grief, and how to live on mission as Christ-followers in the world.

During the off weeks, participants will be required to read between 40-50 pages and look at other supplementary material, preparing them for the group discussions during class.

Required book: Surprised By Hope by N.T. Wright
